I am one of those fiercely independent people who likes to do things on my own. In my mind I am handy around the house, but the reality is my talents lie elsewhere.
Most people don’t realize it, but the best way to find a job is to have help. Having someone to coach you and keep you accountable in your search makes the search go faster and generally ends in a better result.
There are many resources out there to help you with your search. The agency I work with, Christian HELP, specializes in providing one-on-one coaching, resume help and job skills classes, including our three-week, six-class jobs initiative program. We also have an online job board at cfec.org and job fairs.
Goodwill has more than just thrift shops. They also have a job club series and a jobs program. If you have issues on a background check, they have resources to help you. They also have programs for people with disabilities as well.
Workforce Central Florida has resources for veterans and others seeking employment. There are also networking groups such as ProNet Career Resources.
If you are still in school or a recent graduate, your school probably has a career services department. Get to know the people there. They are there to help! They may even have resources for alumni.
The bottom line is that you do not have to search alone! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You will be glad you did.
If we can help you with your job search in any way, please contact our office at 407-834-4022.
