The visionary behind Eatonville’s latest and largest proposed development is facing legal trouble.
Developer Elliot Kahana, the mind behind the recently proposed World Transportation Exchange (WTE), has been indicted for allegedly embezzling $29,400 in veterans’ benefits.
Kahana is reportedly no longer a part of the 117-acre luxury development project, which was to include a car showcase, retail space, a hotel and residential condos.
The development was proposed to be built along Kennedy Boulevard across from the Hungerford Prep High School building.
Kahana’s former partners, Barclay Group of Palm Harbor, told the Orlando Sentinel that the project would move forward, but without the “World Transportation Exchange” portions.
"We've got to redo our whole plan to respond to this," Philip Hollis, Barclay's Orlando partner, told the Orlando Sentinel, adding that WTE no longer exists.
