Dinner on the Avenue on-sale Jan. 5
Dinner on the Avenue tables will go on sale Monday, Jan. 5, at 8 a.m. at the Winter Park Community Center located at 721 W. New England Ave. For just $125, you can gather a table of eight family, friends, coworkers or neighbors to dine under the stars on beautiful Park Avenue. Tables will go fast, so make plans to arrive early and reserve your table for the city’s social event of the year!

Qualifying ends Jan. 6
■ Mayoral and City Commissioner Seat 1 2015 election qualifying began Dec. 29, and will end Tuesday, Jan. 6, at noon.
■ The primary election (if necessary) will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10.
■ The general election will be held Tuesday, March 10.

Workshop to save money
The city’s Sustainability Program is hosting an Energy Efficiency Workshop Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Winter Park Community Center located at 721 W. New England Ave. Attendees will learn how to save money on their utilities and possibly qualify for free home upgrades. Popcorn Flicks
Popcorn Flicks in the Park, presented by Winter Park CRA and produced by Enzian Theater, will feature “To Have and Have Not,” Thursday, Jan. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. in downtown Central Park. This film series features classic films for the whole family. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, a picnic or snacks, and some family and friends! There’s free popcorn for everyone. Last few days of ice skating!
The last day to skate at the city’s “Winter in the Park” ice skating rink is Sunday, Jan. 11. If you haven’t already taken a spin on the ice, there’s only a few days left. Bring your friends and family to experience some cool fun before it’s all over. Save the date: Unity Heritage Festival
The city of Winter Park is proud to present the 13th annual Unity Heritage Festival Sunday, Jan. 18, and Monday, Jan. 19. The annual community festival will promote family history and raise funds for the Educational Fulfillment Fund for local economically disadvantaged youth. The festival begins Sunday, Jan. 18, in Shady Park in Hannibal Square located at the intersection of Pennsylvania and New England avenues from 1 to 5 p.m. Patrons are also encouraged to visit the Hannibal Square Heritage Center just across the street from Shady Park. The center pays tribute to the past, present and future contributions of Winter Park’s historic African-American community.
The heritage festival continues in Shady Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join Winter Park city officials at 10 a.m. for a special Martin Luther King Jr. symbolic program, including the Feature Family Presentation. Exciting events and activities will continue throughout the day including food and music.
