Improvements to Fleet Peeples

Fleet Peeples Park has seen many improvements in recent months. Because there are numerous handicapped park visitors who bring their "companion" dogs for exercise, the city of Winter Park added a handicapped entrance into the park, which includes a trail to enable someone in a wheelchair to access one of the large covered pavilions. New handicapped accessible bathrooms have also been added on the south side of the off-leash area of the park. There is also a new dog washing station attached to the rear of the new bathrooms. And, the latest addition to the park is a large, grassy, shaded area, which has been fenced for the benefit of small dogs and their owners. After some informal polling, members of the Friends of Fleet Peeples group learned that there was great interest in the creation of an area dedicated for small dogs. This has just been completed, and the entrance is located at the handicapped entrance, right off the parking lot. The small dog area will soon be equipped with park benches for the dogs’ owners.
