Study up on the city budget

The City Council met at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 in the City Hall Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.

Three presentations were scheduled. Mayor McDonald presented:

• The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the GFOA to Sharon Anselmo, assistant city manager.

• A certificate of welcome to Glo Nail Bar & Spa.

• A certificate of welcome to The Copper Rocket Pub.

Public Hearings included:

• Ordinance – Non Exclusive C&D Franchise Agreement – Sunshine Recycling

• Ordinance – Borrowing/Loan Water & Sewer, Series 2015

• Ordinance - Right-of-Way Abandonment on West Circle Drive

• Ordinance – Petition No. 2015-03 (ALU) 9000 Summit Centre Way

The Consent Agenda was approved as presented:

• Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes of July 27, 2015

• Approval of Cultural Partners & Library Budget Workshop Minutes of July 23, 2015

• Approval of the purchase of a new street sweeper for the Public Works Department

• Approval of the purchase of 47 mobile printers for the Police Department, paid for by forfeiture funds

• Approval of a change order for the Lake Destiny Athletic Field Sod Renovation Project

• Approval of HUD grant expenditures for the Jim Houser/Azalea Garden/Covered Bridge Park

There was a public period where residents wished to be heard.

Decision items:

• The Maitland Avenue Transfer Agreement was untabled.

The next Council meeting is on Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers.

Or that there are 19 sources of revenue that flow into the City's General Fund? These are some tidbits of information, along with staff's budget recommendations to support city services, you'll learn by reading the fiscal year 2016 budget draft. • In addition to the General Fund, there are six funds that fund various city services, programs, and systems. The six funds are Water & Sewer, Solid Waste, Stormwater Environmental Fee, CRA, Road Impact, and Parks Impact. Visit http://bit.ly/1eNXuYU to learn more about those.
