Rollins renews accreditation
It was announced earlier this month at the annual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in Houston that Rollins College’s regional accreditation was reaffirmed with no recommendations for improvement. The College’s accreditation is assured through 2025, when the next decennial review will occur. Rollins was first accredited by SACSCOC in 1927 and has been continuously accredited since that time.
Local student travels to Mandalay
During the 2015 summer, Justin Grauer, a student at Lake Highland Preparatory School, traveled to Myanmar with VISIONS Service Adventures, an international community service program for teens. Grauer was part of a group of high school students who were based at the Phaung Daw Oo Monastic School in Mandalay, where they lived and worked among the lively young monks who attend school there. VISIONS students assisted in a few infrastructure updates, helping to construct a new brick-and-mortar office building, designing and building a shade canopy, painting, repairing fences, planting trees, and hand building wood furniture. They also installed a plumbing system at PDO’s sister campus, helped organize and teach English classes, and participated in cultural exchanges and lessons about the Myanmar education system, governance and politics, and local current affairs.
