Maitland movie series has a new name and a new location

Presented by the city of Maitland Leisure Services Department, the continuing series of family films, now called Screen on the Green, will feature “Big Hero 6” on March 7 at 7 p.m. at its new location: the Maitland Middle School soccer field located at 1901 Choctaw Trail.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind "Frozen" and "Wreck-It Ralph," comes "Big Hero 6," an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada.

Congratulations to the Volunteers of the Year

Two individuals were recognized for their service on the City’s resident boards. Mr. David S. Mr. O’Connor recently earned his Certified Public Pension Trustee certification, the highest distinction offered by the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association. Mr. Michael Dabby, the second recipient, was recognized for his work on the Planning & Zoning Commission and Transportation Advisory Board. He also has served on the Board of Zoning Adjustment, Maitland Ad Hoc Off-Street Parking Committee, and the Lake Avenue Widening Ad Hoc Committee.
