FDOT information and more
Construction crews are scheduled to break ground soon to reconstruct Interstate 4. The project, called I-4 Ultimate, rebuilds 21 miles of the interstate right through the heart of Central Florida, beginning west of Kirkman Road in Orange County and continuing east of State Road 434 in Seminole County.
On Feb. 17, the I-4 Ultimate Project team hosted a groundbreaking ceremony in Maitland to kick off the project with Gov. Rick Scott.
This summer, be on the lookout for changing traffic patterns as preparations begin for bridge work near Wymore Road and Maitland Boulevard. The project completely reconstructs the Maitland Boulevard interchange, elevating Maitland Boulevard to the west of I-4 over Lake Destiny Road, Keller Drive, and Maitland Summit Boulevard. A new pedestrian bridge spanning I-4 will connect the east and west sides of Maitland. Aesthetically pleasing lights, fountains and landscaping are among the highlights of the improved interchange. Visit I4Ultimate.com to see what’s in store for this crucial corridor over the next six years of construction. There you can learn how building a better I-4 affects your weekday commute, sign up for route-specific alerts, and get answers to your questions about the project.
Separately, FDOT plans to repaint the rail overpass south of Park Avenue on U.S. 17-92 beginning in early 2015. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer 2015.
