Public Works pipeline

The Maitland Public Works Department continues its work for all Maitland residents. Here you will find a list of completed projects and projects in the pipeline.

Completed:

• Covered Bridge Park: Installed new rubberized pathways and a picnic shelter.

• Jim Houser Park: Installed a new bench area, landscaping, and walking paths.

In the pipeline:

• Annual road resurfacing program: Select roads will be milled and repaved in August. Visit itsmymaitland.com in August to view a map of the roadwork.

• Lift Station #4 Diversion Project: This project entails construction of over 9,500 feet of sewer force main throughout the eastern service area of the city. The pipeline will start on Old Horatio Avenue, and will proceed easterly to Dommerich Drive, Algonquin Trail, Arapaho Trail, and Mohican Trail, ending near Thistle Lane. The majority of the construction will be performed using a technique known as “directional drilling” to minimize the amount of roadway excavation and to reduce the impacts to our citizens. Construction is expected to begin this summer. See the July 9 City Talk submission or visit http://bit.ly/LiftStationNo4 for more information.

• Sidewalk Projects: Public Works plans to install new sidewalk along Sunnyside Drive from Magnolia Road to city limits and Choctaw Trail between Mojave Trail and Dommerich Drive. Sidewalk will be replaced along U.S. Highway 17-92 between Sybelia Avenue and George Street, Covewood Trail, and Nottoway Trail.

• Wayfinding Sign Installation: Over 275 signs directing users to community sites and landmarks will be installed across Maitland and Eatonville. The department is reissuing a bid advertisement for sign installation.

Kings Row Park upgrades in progress

Kings Row Park is in the process of getting a makeover. Planned improvements include landscaping, walking paths, playground equipment, a water fountain, and parking spaces.

Playground equipment and irrigation were installed on June 30. On July 6, new sod was installed. The installation of fencing and gates is underway.
