Recap: City Council meeting of July 27

The City Council met at 6:30 p.m. on July 27 in the City Hall Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.

Three presentations were scheduled. Mayor McDonald presented:

• City of Maitland employee Shelley Lupo with the Employee of the Quarter plaque, and

• Maitland resident Kay Yeuell with a proclamation for his recent recognition as “Volunteer of the Year” from the Florida Library Association.

• Mayor McDonald and Councilwoman Bev Reponen recognized Ellen Schellhause, Maitland resident and director of the Maitland Public Library, for her “Librarian of the Year” award from the Florida Library Association.

Public Hearings included:

• Ordinance – Petition NO. 2015-01 (AZ) (PD) – 8900 Albermarle Road (Maitland West)

• Appeal for Waterfront Structure Permit Application Denial – Glen Jaffee, 436 E. Packwood Drive

Old Business included a Stormwater/Lakes Management Plan update.

The Consent Agenda was approved as presented:

• Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes of July 13, 2015

• Approval of City Council Budget Workshop Meeting Minutes of July 20, 2015

• Receipt of Transportation Advisory Board Meeting Minutes of May 14, 2015

• Receipt of Lakes Advisory Board Meeting Minutes of May 20, 2015

• Contract Award for the installation of residential backflow preventers to Aaron’s Backflow Services Inc.

• Proposal for Analysis for Pedestrian/Multi-Use Trail Alternatives – CPH Inc.

• Authorization of Purchase of Sewer Television Equipment Replacement

There was a public period where residents wished to be heard.

Decision items:

• Setting of Proposed Millage Rage (TRIM)

• Appointment – Board of Zoning Adjustment (1) Alternate Member

• Resolution – Maitland Avenue/Maitland Blvd Intersection Design

• Ordinance – Non-Exclusive C&D Franchise Agreement – Sunshine Recycling

• Fire Impact Fee Study Update

• Ordinance – Borrowing/Loan Water & Sewer, Series 2015

• Ordinance – Right-of-Way Abandonment on West Circle Drive

• Maitland Avenue Transfer Agreement

• Residential Opposition to Sidewalk Installation – Tangerine Place

• Residential Opposition to Sidewalk Installation – Sunnyside Drive.

The next Council meeting is on Aug.10 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers. A budget workshop is scheduled for Aug. 3.
