The Winter Park Public Library task force will be presenting their year long study concerning the future of our library to the commission at the next meeting Monday June 22.

I have attended most of the public forums and the task force work sessions and have watched how this open minded group of volunteer city residents have listened to other professionals educate them on every angle and detail concerning a new library.

It has been incredible to see discussions on different views all end up with an agreement that will go before the commission and community.

Please read all the supporting material on their website and listen to what they present to the commission. There already are comments from people voicing their personal needs and desires that show they have not listened or read the research facts — things such as "I can't walk to that location," when our data shows 90 percent of our residents drive to the library or we would be giving up green space at that location when we would only give up one acre.

Compromise is the benefit the entire community gets when we work together to figure out the details of a library for tomorrow. The commission gave these people an assignment that they took seriously. Listen to their unanimous conclusion that was made without political or personal agendas.
