City Council meeting of March 9

The City Council and the CRA Board met at 6:30 p.m. on March 9 in the City Hall Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.

A proclamation was presented to the Orangewood Christian School Soccer Team for its 1A State Title.

Public Hearings included:

• Ordinance – Amending Chapter 2, Article 4, Division 4, Administration – Pension and Retirements – Police Officers & Firefighters

• Ordinance – Non-exclusive Construction & Demolition Franchise Agreement – Randy Suggs Landscaping, Inc.

The Old Business included a vacant positions update:

• The City continues its search for a CRA Manager.

The Council meeting recessed and the Community Redevelopment Agency Board meeting convened.

The Consent Agenda was approved as presented:

• The minutes of the Jan. 26, 2015, CRA Board meeting.

Decision Items:

• Resolution – Amending the CRAAB Resolution No. 21-2003. After discussion, a motion was made to revise the resolution and bring back to the next Council meeting.

The CRA Board meeting recessed and the Council meeting reconvened.

The Consent Agenda was approved as presented:

• The minutes of the Feb. 23, 2015, Council meeting

• Purchase of Structural Burn Trailer

• Lift Station No. 3 (Whitecaps Circle) Design Modifications

• Sunset- Senior Citizens Advisory Board

• Motion forwarded to City Council by the Planning & Zoning Commission

• Approve HUD Grant Expenditures – Jim Houser Azalea Garden/Covered Bridge

• Resolution – Local Agency Program Agreement with FDOT/Bicycle/Pedestrian Wayfinding Signage Project

There was a public period where residents wished to be heard.

Decision Items:

• Appointment – Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (one)

• Ordinance – Petition No. 2015-01 (AZ) (PD) – 8605 and 8673 Summit Centre Way, Chick-Fil-A

• Petition No. 2014-03 (PCU) – 1300 W. Maitland Blvd. – Orangewood Christian School

• Reimbursement – Legal Fees/Schieferdecker, Valdes and Shepard

No discussion items were scheduled.
