The American Association of University Women, or AAUW, has a special program planned for May 9 at 9 a.m. A breakfast and a talk by Arnold Breman will enlighten attendees about show business. The meeting will be held at the First Congregational Church Fellowship Hall in Winter Park. Breman’s talk “Show Business Mommas” will share his experiences with some of the biggest names in show business over his 47 years in the business. Admission is $15, and it includes breakfast. The Parks & Recreation Department of the city of Winter Park will present the sixth annual Nancy Reed Memorial Round Robin Tennis Tournament Monday, May 11, at the Winter Park Tennis Center located at 1075 Azalea Lane. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. for round robin play from 9 to 11 a.m. The Winter Park Tennis Center at Azalea Lane was fortunate to have Reed as one of their teaching pros for 26 years, and she made invaluable contributions to all phases of their tennis programs. Space for the Round Robin Tournament is limited and players are asked to RSVP by Friday, May 8, by emailing [email protected]. Snacks and beverages will be made available to players. The city of Winter Park and the Multifaith Education Project are proud to announce the 12th annual Trees for Peace Interfaith Tree Planting Project set for Tuesday, May 12, in Martin Luther King Jr. Park located at 1050 W. Morse Blvd. The ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. and the program will be led by Louise Franklin Sheehy, director of the Multifaith Education Project. This event was rescheduled from the original date of April 28, due to inclement weather. Over 85 Christian, Jewish and Muslim students and faculty, representing The Geneva School, Jewish Academy of Orlando, and the Leaders Preparatory School, will join together to plant trees for peace. In recognition of their commitment to work together in the spirit of unity, the students will plant six trees and bless them in traditional manner according to each faith. Keller Williams Winter Park Market Center in partnership with the city of Winter Park Fire-Rescue Code Compliance Section will host RED day on Thursday, May 14. Agents and staff from the Market Center will be painting, making needed repairs, removing unwanted items, and landscaping two Winter Park houses for homeowners who are physically or financially unable to do so themselves. Come out to the 14th annual Orange Blossom Jubilee to benefit Winter Park Day Nursery on Saturday, May 16, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Interlachen Country Club, located at 2245 Interlachen Court in Winter Park. This event is the nonprofit preschool’s largest fundraiser of the year, generating financial support to provide affordable preschool education for Central Florida’s working families. The money raised goes toward tuition scholarships, teacher salaries, facility upgrades, curriculum enrichment and more. WPDN, which is celebrating its 76th anniversary this year, has impacted the lives of more than 12,000 students since it was founded in 1939.
