Grant awarded to Rollins College center

The Rollins College Center for Health Innovation at the Hamilton Holt School has been awarded a $30,116 grant from the Winter Park Health Foundation to fund a regional conference: Creating More Age Friendly Businesses and Communities. The conference, to be held in the Central Florida area in November 2015, will educate local businesses and communities on how they can better serve their older adult customers and residents.

Business center welcomes new tenant

Winston-James Development has a new tenant at its business center at 2785 Wrights Road off Aloma Avenue in Winter Park. Winston Schwartz, president of Winston-James Development, said Hart Learning, LLC, signed a new lease for 1,200 square feet at the Aloma Business Center. Hart Learning is an educational, training and tutoring center.

Women’s Club awards scholarship money, donations

The Woman’s Club of Winter Park recently awarded a total of $35,500 to 17 students. The eight new scholars are: Huong Dang (Boone High School) attending UCF; Mylourie Christie Dorceus (Olympia High School) attending FSU or FIU; Ryyan Kassoo (West Orange High School) attending UCF; Amir John Nickell (Boone High School) attending Pace University; Shannar O’Connor (Colonial High School) attending Florida Atlantic University; Donald Phan (Trinity Prep) attending Rollins College; Jack Henry Reckmeyer (University of Southern California) attending University of Southern California; and Angela Zhu (Lake Brantley High School) attending University of South Florida. The nine returning students are: Amanda Bhanote – UCF, Zachary Dyce – FSU, Nicole Martell – UF, Lindsay Richmond – FSU, Kaitlyn McCoy – UCF, Mariah Trainor – Assumption College, Gonzalo Sauri – UCF, Paul Gill – UCF, and Alexander Scheiner – UCF. A total of $4,700 was contributed to local charities: BETA Center, Adult Literacy League, Pathways to Care, Heart to Heart, Lighthouse Central Florida, Southeastern Guide Dogs, Eti-Keys Training Group and Fern Creek Foundation.
