DEC. 1
As an integral part of their study of early Florida natives, the first grade students at The Geneva School will travel to Fort Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 1, to meet Florida native Jimmy Sawgrass and see a fascinating demonstration of life before the first European explorers arrived on this land. They then tour the fort and grounds and enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to school. For more information, call 407-332-6363.
DEC. 2
Brookshire Elementary will be hosting a skate night from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2. For more information and the location fo the rink, call the school at 407-623-1400.
DEC. 3
The Orange County Retired Educators Association will meet on Dec. 3 for the Sounds of the Season musical program presented by Orange County Public School students. The program will start at 10 a.m. at College Park United Methodist Church, located at 644 W. Princeton St. in Orlando. Anyone who has worked in education is invited to join. DEC. 4
On Friday, Dec. 4, students from The Geneva School will visit Medieval Times in Kissimmee to reflect upon their studies of the Middle Ages. Students tour a medieval village complete with artifacts, pictures, and historical specialists. They will also enjoy an educational presentation on medieval weapons and falconry. Finally, students are entertained by a live joust during a traditional feast. For more information, call 407-332-6363.
DEC. 9
Audubon Park Elementary and Brookshire Elementary will host a Walk and Roll event on Wednesday, Dec. 9. All families are encouraged to walk, ride their bikes, roller blades or scooters to school that day and plan to participate in other Walk and Roll events throughout the year.
