Council meeting recap

The City Council and the CRA Board met at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 in the City Hall Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.

Two presentations included a proclamation for Fire Prevention Week and an Independence Lane Update from Bob Beaumont.

Public hearings included:

• Resolution Ad Valorem Tax Rate

• Resolution Annual Budget Fiscal Year 2016

• Ordinance – Capital Improvements Program(CIP)(FY2016-2020) Capital Improvements Element (CIE)

• Ordinance – Revising Chapter 21, Zoning, Sections 21-6, 21-9, 21-21, 23-2, and Chapter 7.5 Article VII

• Ordinance – Non Exclusive Construction & Demolition Franchise Agreement/Signature Landscape Contractors, LLC

• Ordinance – Establish Lien Search Fees

The Council meeting recessed and the CRA Board meeting convened.

The decision item included a resolution for the Community Redevelopment Agency Budget for FY 2016.

The discussion item included a report from the CRA Manager.

The CRA Board meeting adjourned and the Council meeting reconvened.

Old Business included a reminder about the coyote educational seminar with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on Oct. 5.

Decision items included:

• Appointments – Board of Zoning and Appeals (two)

• Ordinance – Amendment to Ordinance No. 1283

• Ordinance – Sign Code Amendment – Promotional Signs

Reminder: Coyote Educational Seminar on Monday, Oct. 5

The city of Maitland and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will host a coyote educational seminar on Monday, Oct. 5. Two representatives from the FWC will share their knowledge on coyotes. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at the City Council Chambers at 1776 Independence Lane.

Reminder: Parkside Chat on Oct. 7

The city invites residents to join Mayor Dale McDonald for the inaugural Parkside Chat on Oct. 7. The Parkside Chats series will foster dialogue between residents and a member of the City Council in a small group setting. Each session will be held at the Maitland Community Park on the first Wednesday of most months from 8 to 9 a.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
