Parks & Recreation Master Plan Findings Presentation on Nov. 4

In April 2015 the Maitland Leisure Services Department began the process of updating its Parks & Recreation Master Plan. As part of the process, the city of Maitland contracted with GreenPlay, LLC to inventory and assess the city’s existing facilities and program offerings to determine how they can be updated, expanded, and improved to meet the community’s current and future needs.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and GreenPlay will host a public meeting during the regularly scheduled monthly PRAB meeting to share their preliminary findings and gather additional data. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at Maitland City Hall, 1776 Independence Lane. All area residents are invited to attend this session and offer their input.

The Parks & Recreation Master Plan reflects the city of Maitland’s vision of a vibrant community that, among other things, is acclaimed for their beautiful parks and lakes, robust cultural programs, quality government services, and preservation of natural resources. Upon completion, the master plan will establish a 10-year vision for future parks, greenways, programs, and facilities.

Work on the new master plan is expected to be completed in early 2016. For more information, please visit itsmymaitland.com and click on the 2015 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update or contact Leisure Services Director Jay Conn at 407-539-6264 or [email protected].
