The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s Central & Northeastern Florida Chapter will be hosting its annual Orlando Take Steps Walk at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Lake Lily Park in Maitland.
Take Steps is CCFA’s largest community event where teams all over the country are coming together to empower and inspire each other to continue to find a cure for digestive diseases that affect 1.6 million Americans. These diseases affect one in 200 Americans including more than 80,000 children. Take Steps offers an incredible day for family, friends and the community to celebrate all of their hard work and dedication to CCFA’s mission: To cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
Since 1967, CCFA has paved the way to a cure by creating the first research programs dedicated to Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. To date, CCFA has invested over $268 million toward research. The Take Steps Walk has raised more than $60 million nationally. More than .82 cents of each dollar raised goes directly to funding this mission towards breakthrough research, public and professional education, and patient support services in communities across the nation. For the fifth year in a row, CCFA has been awarded with a four-star (out of four stars) rating for sound fiscal management and commitment for accountability and transparency from Charity Navigator.
The Take Steps Walk is a fun family event. The festival begins at 3:30 p.m. and the walk starts at 5 p.m. CCFA would be honored to have as many people as possible to attend and help provide much needed awareness and help Orlando reach its goal of $116,000! Every dollar helps and is greatly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference.
