Celebrate Arbor Day in Maitland
Join the Public Works Department for an Arbor Day Celebration at the Maitland Farmers Market (at 701 Lake Lily Drive) on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1. Maitland residents are invited to attend and pick up a free tree, such as a live oak, a crepe myrtle, a bald cypress, a maple, a pine, a Shumard oak, or a tabebuia. The offer is valid while limited supplies last. Maitland residents are asked to furnish proof of residency and pick up only one tree per residence. The city’s landscape specialist, Michael DiClemente, will be on-site to answer any questions about trees. For more information, please call 407-539-3973.
Council meeting recap
On April 25 the City Council met for a workshop and a meeting.
The agenda item for Monday’s workshop, which preceded the City Council meeting, was NUE Urban Concepts/Mobility Fee Technical Memorandum and Draft Fee Schedule.

The decision item was:
100-percent plans and budget for Independence Lane “Festival Street” Streetscape. The City Council voted to set the budget for the Festival Street and its amenities to $1.2 million and task another contractor to work on new drawings.
The CRA meeting adjourned and the City Council meeting reconvened.
