HORIZON WEST  Imagine you are sleeping with your pets in your master bedroom. They suddenly begin yelping at 5:45 a.m.

You send your spouse to check all of your doors and windows. Nothing seems amiss, so you step outside for a moment to get some air or smoke.

You turn around. There is a man on your doorstep, fidgeting and jumpy. He asks to use your phone. You say no and turn to go inside.

And that's when all heck breaks loose.

This happened to a Horizon West woman this week, she said.

"He grabbed me by the hair, punched me in the face and shoved me inside my doorway," she said. "We continued fighting. He ripped off my shirt."

Her husband had a broken leg and was trying to descend the stairs, while her little corgi bolted downstairs and attacked.

"He backed up enough for me to kick him and shove the door closed," she said. "Thank you to all who have asked if I am OK. I am shook up -- black eye -- but OK."

She said law-enforcement officers had set up a 10-mile perimeter with dogs and helicopters. She described the suspect as a white man in his early 20s with dark, short hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black or navy shirt with jeans and sandals, she said.

Contact Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477) if you have relevant information about this incident.
