Winter Parker makes Davenport dean’s list

Davenport University has announced that Anuja Sabharwal of Winter Park has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2015 semester. To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average while enrolled in at least nine credits of regular coursework. Founded in 1866, Davenport is a private, non-profit university serving nearly 9,000 students at campuses across Michigan and online.

Franklin’s Friends gives holiday grants

Maitland nonprofit Franklin’s Friends announced two grants for local animal welfare over the holiday season. A grant of $15,000 is being awarded to the ARNI foundation for the shelter and medical care of dogs and cats rescued from Florida kill shelters. And a $10,000 grant is being awarded to Spay N Save to fund a Fix-a-Thon that will underwrite $5 spay and neuter services for 200 dogs and cats. Both organizations received grants from Franklin’s Friends earlier last year and do such important work that they are being awarded these additional “holiday bonus” grants. Franklin’s Friends was founded in 2003 by two UCF graduates – Drs. Monisha Seth and Anthony Douglas – in honor of their rescued hound Franklin. Franklin’s Friends raises money throughout the year and then, through a rigorous application process, grants those funds to deserving local nonprofit and government organizations.
