Join us for the unveiling of two proposed logos

Earlier this week, Arnett Muldrow & Associates, tasked by the City Council to create a branding and marketing plan and conduct a market analysis, hosted two public meetings to present their findings and to gather input from residents in the area of marketing and branding Maitland’s Downtown and West Side.

The two public meetings will culminate with an unveiling of two proposed logos, one to represent the Downtown and the other to represent the West Side, at a City Council/CRA Board workshop. The workshop will be held on Thursday, July 14, at noon at the Maitland City Hall Council Chambers at 1776 Independence Lane.

"Maitland has worked for years on physically structuring Maitland's Downtown with buildings, streets, and green space," said CRA Manager Charles Rudd. "Now we are working on the intangible aspect – the image, the feel, and the emotion of Downtown. We strive to create an identity that Maitland residents can relate to, to draw in businesses and visitors to Maitland, and to support the redevelopment of both Downtown and the West Side."

The goals of the Branding and Marketing Plan include:

• Identification and definition of Maitland's Downtown and West Side.

• Creation of logos for the Downtown and West Side to create a sense of place, such as wayfinding signs and banners.

• Marketing the city to visitors, prospective residents, prospective businesses, and commercial investors.

Removing a tree? Get a permit

This is a friendly reminder to Maitland residents that tree removal permits are required to remove any tree within the city proper.

You may obtain a tree removal permit application on itsmymaitland.com. Just click on “Online Forms” and go to “Tree Removal Permit” under the “Public Works” header. The fee for the permit is $50, which covers administrative fees and replacement trees in the rights-of-way.

The permits are important because they help track our inventory of canopy trees in our urban forest and help us locate potential sites for replacement trees. Failure to acquire a permit before the removal of a tree can lead to potential hefty fines and penalties. If you have any further questions, please call Public Works at 407-539-3973.
