Jill Hamilton Buss receives Walking College Fellowship
America Walks, a national advocacy organization that promotes walking and walkable communities, recently announced that Jill Hamilton Buss, executive director of Healthy Central Florida, has been awarded a Walking College Fellowship. The fellowship will enable Buss and 24 other advocates from around the country to participate in a four-month training program designed to strengthen local efforts to make communities more walkable. Buss will complete the distance-education training program this summer and participate in the international Pro Walk, Pro Bike, Pro Place conference in Vancouver, British Columbia in September.
Visit Orlando raises money for local organization
Visit Orlando's 20th annual Golf Tournament raised $13,800 for The Mustard Seed of Central Florida, which provides household furnishings and clothing to those who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy.
Local attorney earns new title
Mya M. Hatchette, attorney with Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A., was named a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Mediator. Hatchette will provide mediation services in a wide variety of areas, bringing particular experience in real estate disputes and title insurance claims. For over 16 years, Hatchette’s legal practice has included work in the areas of complex business and commercial real estate litigation and healthcare compliance issues and disputes. She currently serves on the board of the Seminole County Planning and Zoning Commission, on the board of the Winter Park YMCA and is a member of the Florida Land Title Association. She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and a summa cum laude graduate of Georgetown University.
