More train-trestle work

The Florida Department of Transportation announced that southbound U.S. 17-92 under the train trestle will close to traffic between 10 p.m. Friday, June 10, and 3 a.m. Saturday, June 11. FDOT notes that there will be no disruption to northbound traffic on U.S. 17-92. To see a map of open roads in the vicinity of the closure, please visit http://bit.ly/US17-92TrainTrestleClosure.

Uber pilot project approved

The City Council approved a pilot project agreement with Uber and an interlocal agreement establishing the Municipal Mobility Working Group, comprising Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Longwood and Sanford.

Beginning on July 1, the city will pay 20 percent of fares for Uber trips that begin and end within Maitland proper. Similarly, the city will pay 25 percent off fares for Uber trips taken to and from the Maitland SunRail Station. The subsidy cap is $5 and $6.25, respectively. More information will follow. CRA to host a Downtown Master Plan public meeting

The city of Maitland Community Redevelopment Agency is continuing the process of updating the Downtown Master Plan. The CRA will be hosting a public meeting at the Maitland Civic Center on Wednesday, June 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the event is to review the consultants’ analysis of downtown and to solicit more feedback from the public on the emerging themes of the redevelopment of downtown Maitland.
