Meet your new city manager
On Monday, June 13, the City Council voted unanimously to promote Sharon Anselmo to the role of city manager.
“I think Sharon is an excellent selection for the city of Maitland. She has shown incredible dedication to the city over a long period of time,” said Councilman John Lowndes. “It is a pleasure to promote from within.”
Members of the City Council replaced their traditional “aye” votes with “absolutely” and “fortunately” to demonstrate their enthusiasm for their pick for city manager.
Sharon is the third female city manager in Maitland’s municipal history. Before her appointment, she served as acting city manager for a few months.
Prior to her stint as acting city manager, she served as assistant city manager, a role she had held since 2012. In 1996, she began her career at the city of Maitland as senior accountant and subsequently served in the roles of finance manager, finance director, and management services director. Sharon has been a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida since September 1998.
She is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Government Finance Officers' Association, Government Finance Officers' Association, International City/County Management Association, and Florida City and County Management Association. Sharon has achieved the International City/County Management Association Credentialed Manager designation.
Sharon is a proud University of Central Florida Knight. Sharon earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Science degree in accounting at UCF.
There are two opportunities for Maitland residents to meet Sharon. There will be a meet-and-greet on Monday, June 27, from 5 to 6 p.m., before the City Council meeting. Mayor Dale McDonald and Sharon will co-host the next Parkside Chat on Wednesday, July 6, from 8 to 9 a.m., at Maitland Community Park.
