City Council recap
On Monday, May 23, the City Council met for a meeting.
One presentation was scheduled:
• Creative Arts for Life – Dr. Jeff Flowers
The consent agenda was approved as presented:
• Approval of the City Council meeting minutes of May 9
• Approval of the City Council workshop meeting minutes of April 25
• Receipt of the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting minutes of April 7 and April 21
• Receipt of the Transportation Advisory Board meeting minutes of March 10
• Change Order #1 Maitland /Eatonville bicycle route wayfinding signs citywide
Four decisions were on the agenda:
• Appointment – Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
• Petition No. 2016-01 (SUB) Lake Maitland Owl Preserve – 450 Northwind Road
• Pilot project agreement with Uber and interlocal agreement establishing the Municipal Mobility Working Group
• Maitland Avenue corridor study
The City Council discussed the following four items:
• Fire impact fee study - Assistant Fire Chief Charles Van Camp, Fire Marshal Dennis Marshall
• Board/committee communications
• City manager recruitment
• Uptown Maitland West developer’s agreement
Fire-Rescue hosts a wellness-screening event
Maitland Fire Rescue Department, in conjunction with Life Scan and the Winter Park Health Foundation, will host a wellness-screening event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 7.
All Maitland citizens are encouraged to stop by Station 45 located next to City Hall and have a wellness screening performed.
Have your cholesterol, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, pulse and blood sugar checked. In addition, have your medical history and prescribed medication reviewed by paramedics.
Receive a patient information form with all of your results as well as important emergency information regarding medications, allergies, emergency contact and advance directives information.

Councilwoman Reponen to host next Parkside Chat
The Parkside Chat returns on Wednesday, June 1, with Councilwoman Bev Reponen hosting. The Parkside Chats series provides residents opportunities to ask questions and dialogue in a small group setting. Each session will be held at the Maitland Community Park on the first Wednesday of most months from 8 to 9 a.m. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and doughnut holes will be provided.
