The Orange County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred around 8 a.m. at the 7400 block of Megan Elissa Lane in a neighborhood near Dr. Phillips High School.

The male victim was shot in the shoulder area and face, said OCSO spokesman Jeff Williamson, and has been transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. However, the victim is in stable condition and only has non-life threatening injuries, Williamson added.

The shooting occurred after the victim observed two suspects trying to enter his vehicle. When confronted, the suspects shot the owner of the vehicle and fled on foot toward Dr. Phillips High School. Three schools initiated a lockdown while K-9 officers and their handlers investigated the scene: Dr. Phillips High, Palm Lake Elementary and Southwest Middle.

A witness informed OCSO two additional suspects were seen quickly leaving the scene as well in a separate vehicle, amounting to a total of four possible suspects who, Williamson said, appear to be in their late teens. The suspects have not yet been identified, but the three schools have lifted the lockdown.
