Springtime means leadership at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, where we are presently recruiting for our two signature programs for both adult and youth leaders.
Leadership Winter Park, for adults, and Youth Leaders, for high-school sophomores, juniors and seniors, are programs designed to provide a behind-the-scenes view of the city combined with customized leadership training. Both programs have application deadlines upcoming.
Leadership Winter Park equips and mobilizes advanced leaders and community trustees for Winter Park and the region. The nine-month program for adults, beginning in August, features a deep dive into sectors of the community to review critical issues, connect with key leaders and engage in leadership training to shape their future as influential citizens. Class XXVIII will be filled with 45 local business leaders following an application deadline of June 30.
Sessions include modules on local government, healthcare and education, with specific leadership training and development including use of the StrengthsFinder curriculum.
High-school students looking to improve leadership skills and begin career planning will find value in the Youth Leaders program. This program for rising sophomores, junior and seniors from all Central Florida public, private or charter schools is designed to jumpstart youth into their life as leaders, giving them a broader view of the wealth of opportunity in Winter Park and targeted leadership training. Students learn about city government and business while engaging with leadership development tools like the DISC profile. Programs are offered June 19-23 and July 17-21. Students should apply by Wednesday, May 10, to join other talented youth in the prospect of achievement. Scholarships are available.
Applications to both programs can be made at winterpark.org.
