More than 700 Winter Park High School graduates walked across the CFE Arena stage Tuesday night, with 31 valedictorians. The class of 2017 wildcats was a distinguished bunch, Principal Timothy Smith said, with the following accomplishments:
“seven national merit scholars, one national merit corporal scholar, 90 candidates for an international baccalaureate diploma, 120 National Honor Society members and 28 ‘super scholar’ awards for admission into a top 20 university or military academy … 1,250 students took a total of 2,900 AP exams this school year, and $22.8 million was offered to Winter Park High School 2017 graduates. 49 graduates are enlisting in the U.S. military, 92 percent of graduates plans to attend a four-year university or community college.” The 2017 class excelled in athletics, its ROTC program and performance art this school year, as well.
