Leiferman Gymnasium was full of excitement Thursday, May 25, as about 60 Foundation Academy graduates received their high school diplomas. They filed into the gym to “Pomp and Circumstance” before a crowd of family and friends.
Foundation’s youngest students, the Class of 2029, sang a Gaither Vocal Band song for the 2017 graduating seniors. Salutatorian Casey Kenoyer and valedictorian Evan Thompson delivered their speeches, and the guest speaker was Dr. Sanford “Sandy” Shugart, president of Valencia College.
Dylan Good received the J.J. Warmus Scholarship, established by the parents of Warmus, a former student who died in 2015.
Following the presentation of the diplomas, the graduates walked out to Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me.”
