Winter Park residents gathered to celebrate the city’s rich African American history at the Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 16 outside the Winter Park Community Center. The event included a live performance of “Lost But Not Forgotten,” a reenactment that tells the stories of influential Winter Park figures Gus Henderson, Walter Simpson and Frank Israel.
The celebration also featured live music, an art project for children, and other historical story telling performances.
