One West Orange elementary school is making an impact through collections.

The students at Summerlake Elementary School are holding a Lego Replay Collection and a TerraCycle Collection throughout this week.

The Summerlake PTO is collecting used LEGO and LEGO DUPLO items.

The items will be shipped to LEGO to be cleaned, repackaged and redistributed to be given to kids in the Boys and Girls Clubs across the United States.

The class that collects the most LEGO products, in terms of weight, will receive special LEGO Conservation figurines that were donated by LEGO.

Any student that brings in LEGO and DUPLO pieces will be entered into a raffle to win two tickets, donated by LEGOLAND, to LEGOLAND. There will be two winners selected.

Parents should add both their student's name and their teacher's name to all bags being sent in.

The school is also collecting items for the TerraCycle program

TerraCycle offers free recycling programs funded by brands, manufacturers and retailers around the world to help collect and recycle hard-to-recycle waste.

Each item sent to TerraCycle will earn money for the Summerlake PTO to assist in purchasing items to enrich the education for the students at the school.

Applicable recycling items for the month of December include stationary items, Healthy Food Squeeze pouches, Little Bites pouches and old toothbrushes or toothpaste tubes.

All containers and pouches must be rinsed out before being sent in.

Donations for both collections will run throughout the week.

Items can be sent to the front office or be sent in with students.
