Since Windermere High School opened its doors in 2017, the Wolverines played their outdoor field sports — minus baseball and softball — 1.7 miles down Ficquette Road at Deputy Scott Pine Community Park.

But with a new on-campus slated to open its doors this fall, the Wolverines are saying goodbye to the only sports field they’ve ever known.

In a post on the school’s Facebook page, Windermere High shared the news that on Wednesday, May 5 it has officially removed its last remaining items from Scott Pine Park and is setting course for home opening football game at the new stadium this fall.

“It’s been an amazing seven years of athletics, fun and community,” the post said. “You’ve (Deputy Scott Pine Community Park) been an exceptional host and (have given) us a place to play when we had nowhere else to go. We laughed, we cried, we celebrated and had our share of growing pains along the way, but now, it’s time for us to finally come home. … Thanks again for letting us crash for so long. We wouldn’t be the athletic program we are today without you. We’ll be sure to visit from time to time. And of course, be sure to join us for our first home game at our new stadium Friday, September 13. Thanks for all the memories!”
