Foundation Academy baseball’s Barak Boston, a recent graduate, has announced on his social media that he has de-committed from Army West Point and plans on playing college ball in South Carolina next season as a member of the Coker University Cobras.
“Little change in plans but I'm incredibly blessed and beyond excited to announce my commitment to Coker University to continue my academic and athletic career,” he wrote on an Instagram post. “First and foremost, I want to thank God for His unwavering faithfulness and guidance throughout this long and challenging journey. All glory goes to Him — every setback, every breakthrough and every opportunity has been part of His perfect plan. I also want to thank my family for their constant love, support, and sacrifice over the years; you’ve been my foundation. A huge thank you to my coaches, mentors and teammates who've pushed me to grow both on and off the field. This is only the beginning and a start to a new chapter. With that said, I'm beyond excited to become a part of the Coker family. Go Cobras! ‘And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for the good of those who are called according to his purpose.’ Roman 8:28.”
Despite missing eight games due to injury during his lone season as a Lion, Boston played a crucial role in Foundation’s 19-10 record by leading the club with a .453 (24-for-53) batting average, a .608 on-base percentage, 23 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. He also drove in 15 runs and hit one homer for Foundation in his 21 appearances.
