The St. Johns River Water Management District is temporarily closing portions of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive on select dates in August.

The closures will allow the district to conduct slope-stabilization work and are necessary to ensure public safety during the installation of slope-stabilizing materials, according to a news release.

Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will be closed Friday, Aug. 8, Friday, Aug. 15 and Friday, Aug. 22.

Wildlife Drive will remain open to visitors from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays during this time.

Lake Apopka Loop Trail will not be affected by construction activity and will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles.

Lust Road, the Lust Road pedestrian gate and the Conrad Road gate will be closed to pedestrian and bicycle access Mondays through Fridays for the rest of August.
