Two juveniles were arrested early Sunday morning, Aug. 10, after attempting to break into multiple vehicles on Lake Butler Boulevard, according to a statement made by Windermere PD's Chief Dave Ogden.

"Suspicious males" were seen by officers while patrolling the area around 4 a.m.

As officers approached them, the suspects ran on foot in different directions.

WPD asked for additional units from Ocoee, as well as K-9 officers and an Orange County Sheriff's Office helicopter to form a perimeter.

One of the suspects who ran away was able to get in a truck that was unlocked and attempted to drive away, only to be met with a dead end.

The driver then allegedly rammed into patrol vehicles before becoming trapped and arrested.

The other suspect was later found and taken into custody with no incidents, the statement reported.

Both of them were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The truck was recovered and the patrol vehicles had minor damage. Ogden said his team also recovered possible stolen property linked to cases in the jurisdiction of Orange County.

Investigators confirmed the two teenagers tried to enter multiple vehicles along Lake Butler Boulevard.

Charges remain pending and an investigation is ongoing.
