High school football is officially back in West Orange and Southwest Orange, and the 2025 season starts off with a few must-watch games, with the Ocoee Knights hosting neighbors Apopka High as the headliner.
For the fourth consecutive football season, the Ocoee Knights open their charge toward a state championship against Class 7A, District 5 rivals and nearby neighbors the Apopka Blue Darters.
In each of the past three matchups, the West Orange County squad has fallen to Apopka in a defensive struggle, losing 13-12 in 2022, 2-0 in 2023 and 10-0 in 2024. This season, however, the Knights might just have what it takes to flip the script on the Blue Darters, as senior quarterback Tyson Davison has made the move from Apopka to Ocoee.
Davison, who led the Apopka offense the past three seasons, has become the starting QB for Ocoee and will look to lead a dynamic Knights offense to its first win over his former school in a long time.
