Week 2 of the high school football season is here and for the first time in 2025, all 12 of the West Orange and Southwest Orange programs are hitting the gridiron; Windermere Prep is the last team to play its season-opener.

Among the slate of 11 matchups involving the area's teams is The First Academy hosting yet another nationally ranked out-of-state opponent in Central High from Alabama, Foundation Academy travelling to downtown Orlando looking to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2020 and Olympia High looking to bounce back against a visiting Ocoee Knights team that's coming off a historic season-opening win.

Headlining this week's games, however, are the West Orange Warriors travelling north to face off against Orange County foes Wekiva High in the Observer's game of the week.

Game of the Week: West Orange (1-0) vs. Wekiva (0-1)

After a slow start in their Week 1 game, which saw the Warriors fall behind, 12-0, in the second quarter during a home matchup against the Evans Trojans, the West Orange offense started to click and show the same type of explosiveness that got fans buzzing in the spring and preseason by scoring back-to-back touchdowns and take control of what ended up being a 28-18 win.

Led by its explosive offense and first-year starter at quarterback, A.J. Chung, West Orange's Week 2 road game is the perfect opportunity to take the momentum it gained last week and put on an offensive display that would make Mike Leach's old Texas Tech offenses look conservative.

Chung threw for 267 yards on 20-of-28 passing with three touchdowns in his first-ever game as a starter.

On offense, keep an eye out for senior receiver Edison Delgado, the Warriors' leading pass catcher from 2024. Another pass catcher to keep an eye on is Louisville commit Devonte Anderson, except he could be catching passes from both QBs in this game, as he will spend a good portion of his time playing defensive back as well as receiver.
