Liz Johnson, Orange County environmental protection division assistant manager, was awarded the 2025 Jim Thomas Environmental Hero Award Tuesday, Dec. 2 by Friends of Lake Apopka.
Over the years, Johnson has worked with Thomas to contribute to the restoration of Lake Apopka, as well as to conserve Florida's landscape and environment.
"Jim Thomas was a great admirer," the press release said. "If you looked at every environmental issue in Central Florida for the past 30 years, Liz was involved in some way. Usually in a big way."
She was recognized by FOLA Director Joe Dunn.
"Liz Johnson is truly a Friend of Lake Apopka," the press release said.
