A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a guest’s checkbook and writing himself multiple checks.

Mason Reid Henrichsen, who worked as a valet at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Villages, is facing grand theft by fraud and forgery of a check charges.

According to the arrest affidavit, the guest called the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Dec. 3, after her bank notified her of four suspicious transactions.

The checks varied between $98 and $670, totaling almost $1,300.

The woman notified police the checks were written to a “Michael Henrichsen.” Detectives determined the man worked at the hotel at which she was staying.

Henrichsen’s employer, Town Park, released a statement saying it is aware of the situation and is cooperating with authorities on the matter.

When detectives spoke to Henrichsen, he said he found a blank check in the parking lot and decided to write $88 for himself. He deposited the check at a bank near Disney Springs, and after declining the transaction, no money entered his account.
