A fatal hit-and-run crash took place Monday, Dec. 8 on Silver Star Road.

According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, a man was driving his 2003 Honda Accord eastbound on Silver Star Road, approaching Le Harve Boulevard, where a pedestrian was walking in a southerly direction.

The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and entered the direct path of the driver, where he was hit.

The driver then immediately got out the car and began assisting the pedestrian.

However, another driver in a possible gray or blue Chevrolet Malibu was driving eastbound and failed to stop for the driver outside helping the injured pedestrian, hitting the two.

That driver then got out his vehicle, assessed damages and got back in his vehicle, fleeing the scene.

The pedestrian who was initially hit was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The Honda Accord driver sustained minor injuries.

The FHP is now looking for the driver of the Chevy Malibu and said the car should have lower front-end damage and damage to the driver’s side mirror.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

The crash remains under investigation.
