Volunteers are needed to sort and pack food for the Southeastern Food Bank’s Food for Families program. Those wanting to help can meet and to sort at the SFB warehouse, 655 N. Kissimmee Ave., Ocoee, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, March 1, 8 and 15.

The Southeastern Food Bank is preparing to deliver about 1,000 boxes — an estimated $130,815 worth — of food to low-income neighborhoods and families in West Orange County Saturday, March 22. This is the 33rd year of the Food for Families program, which delivers food to impoverished families in the spring and at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year, the three events delivered food to about 2,375 families.

Each family receives a banana box filled with a variety of food items to last about four days, a bag of baked goods and toilet paper.
