LaVon Bracy Davis wins Florida Senate District 15 democratic primary

Bracy Davis will face Republican Willie Montague in a Special General Election Day Sept. 2.

State Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis has won the special primary election Tuesday, June 24, for Florida Senate District 15. 

Ocoee's Bracy Davis won with 42.96% of the vote or 5,533 votes against Coretta Anthony-Smith (28.31% or 3,646 votes), former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson (16.72% or 2,153 votes) and her brother and former state Sen. Randolph Bracy (12.02% or 1,548 votes). 

District 15 includes Ocoee, Oakland and part of Winter Garden.

Bracy Davis is an attorney, law maker and arts executive who has served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for House District 40 since 2022. 

She will advance to a Sept. 2 special general election against Republican Willie Montague. 

The winner of the Florida Senate District 15 seat will succeed Sen. Geraldine Thompson, who died in Feb. 13 at the age of 76.
