The burn ban has been lifted for unincorporated Orange County and the municipalities served by Orange County Fire Rescue, which include Edgewood, Belle Isle, Oakland and Eatonville.
Recreational open burning is now allowed again. Residents should continue to use caution and always have a way to put out any fire they start.
According to Orange County’s Fire Prevention and Protection Ordinance, a burn ban is automatically put in place when the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) reaches 500 or above. Recent rainfall has caused the KBDI average to stay below 500 for seven straight days, which allows the county to lift the ban in unincorporated areas.
