Apopka teens involved in fatal crash

Three teenagers died in the early morning of Sunday, Nov. 9 and three others were sent to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Six Apopka teenagers were involved in a crash at Welch Road and Wekiwa Drive, leaving three dead. 

Florida Highway Patrol said the incident took place around 1:37 a.m. in the early morning of Sunday, Nov. 9. 

The teens were in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on Welch Road when the driver lost control on a curve, causing the car to run off the roadway, striking a tree and overturning. 

The driver, a 17-year-old teen and two passengers aged 15 and 14 were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, though they were serious. 

Two passengers, aged 17 and 13, were pronounced dead on-scene. 

Another 17-year-old passenger was transported to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation.
