Obituary: Vicki Loretta Summers

Vicki Loretta Summers, 81, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Orlando Health — Health Central Hospital in Ocoee with her family by her side.

Vicki was born on Aug. 28, 1944, at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Loretta Brooklyn. 

Vicki was a longtime employee of Martin Marietta and finished her career at Bright House Networks in Ocoee. She also played a big role in bringing Pop Warner Football to Winter Garden. Any kid who played football in Winter Garden in the late 1970s through the mid-1990s knew who Mrs. Summers was. She spent countless hours down at Walker Field on the weekends. Football remained one of her passions throughout her life.

Vicki is survived by three children, Bret Summers, Scott Summers and Ashley Wendell. She had nine grandsons and 13 great-grandchildren. She also had one loving sister, Jan Thurmond; one niece, Dana Thurmond; and one grandniece.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Health Central Park, 411 N. Dillard St., in Winter Garden.
