Out of the 12 teams in West and Southwest Orange high school football scene, only five programs are hitting the field in Week 7.
Windermere Preparatory school kicked off the week Thursday, Oct. 2. The team hosted Geneva for its Thursday night game and found themselves back on the winning board. Windermere Prep kept its fans on their toes and just scraped by in its 7-6 win.
Four teams are playing under the lights Friday, Oct. 3. CFCA hosts Master’s Academy and Ocoee travels to Hudson.
The First Academy is traveling up to colder air to face St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md. TFA’s ranked No. 9 in Florida and No. 72 nationally, but its opponents are sitting at No. 2 in the country.
CFCA’s has flipped the switch this season. The team finished last year 3-6 and has already surpassed its production levels with the undefeated start. A new group of young stars entered the field this year for the Eagles and through each game they’re learning more and more how to work as a unit.
When looking at the statistics, CFCA’s dominated this year compared to their opponent, Master’s Academy. The Eagles’ are averaging 38.4 points per game over the Patriots’ 22.2.
It’ll be key for CFCA to continue to start with a block in the game and lead its freshman running back Jahmari Hammonds down the field. He’ll be a player to watch for the Patriots’ defense as he’s averaging 160 yards per game with nine touchdowns.
Another offensive weapon is CFCA’s quarterback, Gavin Privatzu. The eighth grader has done phenomenal this year, throwing 948 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s made his presence known on the field in his rookie year and will be someone else to watch as he grows.
