A fight broke out during the third quarter of Central Florida Christian Academy’s game against Master’s Academy Friday, Oct. 3.
Defensive hands were thrown from CFCA, which resulted in five of its players’ ejections and one from Master’s Academy.
When it happened, the Eagles were up 29-6, but after losing five of its core players they had to regroup. The team showed its resilience and well-rounded players. People subbed in, becoming the center and linemen.
CFCA continued to play hard and produced its highest scoring game yet.
The Eagles topped the Patriots 47-14 and extended its record to 6-0.
The team started hot this season and have continued to execute game after game. Eight grade quarterback, Gavin Prizkau, led the way for his offense. He threw in six of the team’s seven touchdowns and brought a sense of urgency but calmness every time he stepped upon the field.
A fellow young star, running back Jahmari Hammonds, ran in CFCA’s other touchdown. He may not have had a game with multiple rushing touchdowns, but he flew down the field every time he found an opening.
That’s the perks of having a well-rounded offense. Master’s Academy was stopping the run game, but it couldn’t limit the arm of Prizkau.
CFCA didn’t win on offense alone; its defense propelled the victory.
The defense read the minds of Master’s Academy. CFCA forced fumbles, caught interceptions and set its offense up with prime field position to find the end zone.
GOING FORWARD
CFCA only has three more games left and its ambition is to finish strong.
Its offense has slowly increased the numbers it puts on the board each game. Last week against Windermere Preparatory school, CFCA scored 46.
The Eagles’ used its game against Master’s Academy as a way to practice completing tough plays. The team went for the two-point conversion after three touchdowns and half of them were successful.
The sixth win in a row not only reinforced the individual talent CFCA knows it has on the field, but it showcased the team’s togetherness. The players came together and regrouped after the incident in the third quarter and they didn’t let up. It didn’t shake them going forward and they continued to play their hearts out.
CFCA’s puzzle is whole, even when the team is missing a few pieces of its starters, others will step into the role.
