Tragedy near Oak Ridge postpones football game against Windermere High

The game originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10 will be pushed back to Monday, Nov. 3 because of a tragic event in the area.

Oak Ridge High School and Windermere High’s football game has been postponed due to a tragic event in the area. 

The game initially was scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, Oct. 10, but now will be played at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3. All purchased tickets will be honored on the new date. 

A fight broke out at Vogt-Meloon Park on a basketball court near Oak Ridge High School Thursday, Oct. 9. The fight escalated into a shooting and one child passed away at the hospital. 

The suspect fled into Oak Ridge High School and the school entered a lockdown. The suspect was arrested in the cafeteria.
