West, Southwest Orange Week 9 high school football schedule

Week 9 of high school football is underway and entering the field Friday, Oct. 17 are all 12 of West and Southwest Orange teams. 

After earning their district championship title last week, Dr. Phillips travels to Edgewater, the team is ranked No. 25 in Florida and 8-0. It’ll no easy task for the Panthers, but the team has showcased its strength throughout this year and it should be one of the top games to watch out for. 

CFCA and Windermere High remain undefeated this season and with only a few games left, the teams’ are fighting to continue persevering. On the flip side, Legacy is pushing for it’s first win in eight-man football. 

Olympia’s coming off its first blow-out win and the team is celebrating its senior night as it matches up against West Orange. The Warriors have been a powerhouse this year, with its highest scoring game coming last week. 

Game of the week: The First Academy (4-3) vs. The St. James Performance Academy (6-0)

The First Academy returns to its home-field for the first time since Friday, Aug. 29 to host senior night. In the team’s five-game away stunt, it went on a four-game winning streak before falling to St. Frances Academy, the No. 2 team in the country. 

TFA’s games this season have been no easy feat, facing multiple top-ranked schools. It’s game against The St. James Performance Academy is no different. The team is ranked No. 4 in Virginia and averaged 58.0 points per game, over TFA’s 26.7 ppg. 

If this season has revealed anything it’s that the Royals have grit and determination. In two of its three losses, the team was within a touchdown to win the game, and the players have shown they’ll play until the end. It’ll be key for the team to continue fighting hard on every play and for the Royals’ defense to limit St. James’ offensive power.
